Speculations and rumors spreading online regarding Oprah Winfrey having a baby with her partner, Stedman Graham, are completely false, despite convincing yet made-up details that several fake websites posted this month.
Snopes reports that the rumor started on a website entitled, CelebTriCity, a fraudulent news site that posts both “real and satire news.”The fake website also indicated that Winfrey, 61, said if has a son, she would name him Harpo (Oprah spelled backwards), and if she has a daughter, her name will be Gayle.
Another deceitful tabloid site allegedly quoted Winfrey on the news.
“After seeing Mark Zuckerberg and his wife go through their pregnancy, it just inspired me to have my own
baby.”
Unfortunately, the internet is filled with numerous fake websites that make up false headlines and stories in order to gain viewers. Yet, there is no record of Winfrey ever saying she was pregnant and no substantial new outlet has confirmed it.
Citizen Digital reports that the rumors likely came about after Winfrey revealed to news.com.au that she once had a son, but it’s been over 45 years since he was born prematurely and passed away. Winfrey, still visibly shaken by the incident, told an audience of 15,000 people about her baby boy.
This isn’t the first time Oprah revealed her pregnancy. The talk show host kept it hidden for years because she was just 14-years-old when she had her boy, a result of a relative raping her. In 2011, she revealed that she hid her pregnancy for seven months because she felt ashamed and afraid.
Meanwhile, the popular author opened up about her “fans” during her national speaking tour, An Evening With Oprah, in Australia this month. The humble Winfrey insisted that she does not have fans, as the word disconnects her from the audience. Instead, she prefers to give labels such as supporters, friends, and viewers.
