Harare - Ousted former Zanu PF stalwart Joice Mujuru has finally responded publicly to allegations levelled against her which led to her ouster from the party that brought her fame.

She was speaking at a press conference to introduce her new party Zimbabwe People First (ZPF) which was recently registered as a fully-fledged political entity to compete on the political front.

"On those who say I was in Zanu-PF. We are a new entity with new values and followers from every political party. We are not a one woman’s party we don’t have one centre of power.

I have known only one political party and now I am outside and I will not go back. I am neither a witch nor an assassin," said Mujuru.

Her relegation from the party echelons were pinned on allegations of witchcraft, assassination attempts, corruption among others.

However, she said 18 months after the allegations cropped up, no docket has been brought forward against her.

The opposition leader stated that she will never persecute other people after she was asked to comment on President Mugabe's character.

“I don’t believe in talking about other people’s characters I am not God. Yes, President Mugabe has been my boss for a long time and I will not discuss his character.

Let’s focus on progressive issues, bread and butter issues for the development of the country.”

Mujuru's party announced that it is has not forged any coalition pacts with fellow opposition parties though they remain open to dialogue.

“It’s rampant in the media. I hear Mujuru has met Tsvangirai or she has rejected a certain post. I am yet to meet Morgan since the inclusive Government ended. We are open to dialogue. We now have an official party and we are open to dialogue”

The former VP emphasised that, "We shall rejoin the Commonwealth. We have to have ties with countries, we can have diplomatic relations without affecting our sovereignty.

ZPF will hold a congress to elect leadership.

Party members present at the press conference at  a local hotel included: former Zanu PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo, Didymus Mutasa and Sylvester Nguni. David Butau and Dzikamai Mavhaire also attended.
