Bedroom Conflicts: "My Man Gives me STIs, Calls me His Prostitute"

A bitter woman has approached the courts for a protection order against her live-in lover accusing him of physical abuse, constantly infecting her with STIs and calling her 'his prostitute.'

Diana Nyamukasa told Harare Civil court magistrate, Barbra Mateko that she was tired of living with Steward Chitate, whom she has been cohabiting with for the past nine years.

“We have been living together for the past nine years and he has not paid a single cent to my family. He physically and verbally abuses me. I am also tired of seeking treatment for the STIs that he gives me.
Seeking Justice from the Courts

“This man is very promiscuous and I can no longer stand him. I want him to leave my house since he does not even pay rent. He tells me that I am his prostitute and I have to take care of him. He has refused to move out of the house saying he wants to wait for money we are going to get after we sell the maize we harvested.

“Your worship, I am in a prison with this man as he takes me for granted by doing things that hurt me,” she said. Steward denied the allegations arguing that he keeps peace with Diana at all times.

“I do not assault or insult her. The problem with her is the church she goes to. She is a member of one of the white garment apostolic sects. One day she just decided to sleep on the floor saying she was praying and since then she has not slept on the bed.

“I do not admit that I gave her STIs on different occasions. All I want is for us to take care of our children in peace,” he said.

Mateko granted the order in Diana’s favour and advised her to seek legal advice if she intended to evict Steward. - Online Sources
