Bill Gates famously dropped out of Harvard and co-founded Microsoft (MSFT, Tech30) in 1975 with Paul Allen.

Net worth: $65 billion. Famed billionaire investor Warren Buffett married his second wife Astrid Menks in 2006, two years after the death of his first wife Susan Buffett.

Around the time of their nuptials, Buffett’s daughter Susie Buffett reportedly told the New York Timesthat she was thankful they were together. “She loves him and takes care of him. If Warren didn’t have a cent, she’d be with him,” she told the newspaper.

David and Julia Koch
Net worth: $47.5 billion. David Koch and his brother Charles Koch made their fortune with Koch Industries, a huge oil and gas conglomerate which is among the biggest private companies in North America.

David and his wife Julia met on a blind date and married in 1996. The Koch family is known for its strong political beliefs and philanthropic work.

The Koch brothers are considered some of the most powerful people in American politics because they donate a vast amount of money to support Republican candidates. The family is also very involved in the arts. Julia is on the board of directors at the School of American Ballet.

Charles and Elizabeth Koch
Net worth: $47.4 billion. Charles Koch began working in the family business founded by his father in the 1960s and then took over as chairman and CEO in 1967, after his father’s death.

He and his wife Elizabeth married in 1972 and have two children. Like his brother David, Charles is actively involved in a range of philanthropic work. 

He founded or helped build various organizations, including the Institute for Humane Studies, the Cato Institute and the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

Wang Jianlin and Lin Ning
Net worth: $40.7 billion. Property mogul Wang Jianlin is one of China’s richest men. The self-made billionaire is chairman of Dalian Wanda, a real estate and entertainment conglomerate.

The company owns AMC Entertainment (AMC), a range of luxury hotels, a portfolio of shopping malls and the British yacht maker Sunseeker.

Jeff and Mackenzie Bezos
Net worth: $39.8 billion. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon (AMZN,Tech30) in 1994 after working on Wall Street for about eight years.
