Former Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Charles Utete has died.
Utete reportedly collapsed and died at his home in Harare early today. Information minister Christopher Mushowe confirmed Utete has passed on.“It is true and we are still trying to find more information,” Mushowe told NewsDay.
Dr. Charles M. B. Utete has been the Chairman of Cairns Holdings Ltd. since January 2007.

Dr. Utete serves as the Chairman of the Industrial Development Corporation. He serves as the Chairman of The Seed Co Zimbabwe. He serves as a Director at Seed Co. Ltd.
He has been a Director at Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Ltd. since September 2009. Dr. Utete has vast experience from both the public and private sectors. Dr. Utete retired from Government service in 2003 after 23 years and has been involved in business ever since.
He joined the civil service in 1981 as Secretary to the Prime Minister and Cabinet before being appointed Secretary to the President and Cabinet in 1987 following the introduction of the Executive Presidency.
He held the position until retirement. In 2003, he was appointed Chairperson of the Presidential Land Review Commission, which was tasked with assessing progress in the implementation of the land reform exercise and to make recommendations. - Online Sources
