South African political parties intensified their election campaigns in Eastern Cape over the weekend - with the ANC, DA and Cope canvassed for votes in various areas - but EFF firebrand leader Julius Malema took the spotlight.

Maimane said Jordaan had exposed himself as “being just like Zuma – corrupt, devious and unethical”.

Maimane added: “The only difference is that he doesn’t want a jet because he is too scared to travel overseas for fear of being arrested.”

Cope activists led by Bishop Lievie Sharpley have been canvassing for votes in KwaNobuhle, Wells Estate and Motherwell for the past two days.

Sharpley told residents that the ANC had wronged the people. “Like a child who has done wrong and gets punished, we will use our X to punish the ANC.”

In Mount Frere, ANC NEC member and Minister of Environmental Affairs Edna Molewa joined a prayer for peace. - Daily Sun
