Embattled rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide has pleaded with his fans to help him after he was arrested on Tuesday at his Kinshasa home, Congo, for assaulting his female dancer in Nairobi.

In a Facebook post, Olomide whose real name is Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba, requested his loyal fans to put up his picture on their accounts as a way of supporting him as he fights for a fair trial.

“Due to the injustice that sustains our artist Koffi Olomide, which has just been transmitted in prison without-conviction-pronounced, nor verdict of judgment and the refusal by the prosecutor to listen to the Dancer supposed to be the victim.
Begging for Mercy, Koffi Olomide

"We kindly ask you to put this photo of our artist on all your accounts, social networks as a sign of protest and especially of supports for the artist,[sic]” reads part of the post.

Unconfirmed reports emerged on Tuesday claiming that the musician had been jailed for three months without an option of fine for kicking the dancer.

The musician was deported last Saturday to Kinsasha from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after public outrage.

Olomide was arrested on Friday night outside the Royal Media offices following orders by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet. - Online Sources
