Barely a week after parting ways with star entertainer Jah Prayzah, Gonyeti has already assembled her own musical outfit.
The former 3rd Generation backing vocalist cum dancer who now fronts The Horses is expected to stage her first show at Club Tabula in Southlea Park tomorrow.
Gonyeti real name Pamela Zulu confirmed the gig saying she was ready for the challenges. “That’s (Club Tabula) my first show and I am ready.”
The poster of the show is trending on social media in showbiz circles, with some questioning the progress of her work. People have been posting comments like:
"Gonyeti is here to stay.This should be planned. Can she stand the heat? Wish Gonyeti the best in her new career.” Critics argued that she had already planned it and the move to leave Jah Prayzah was decided before the official exit last week.
A source privy to the going ons said Gonyeti is ready for the challenge and has since lined up a number of shows. The source said she had already engaged a number of seasoned musicians to give her a platform when they hold shows around the country.
“This is something that was already planned. She told Jah Prayzah that she was no longer part of the band few days before the album launch and within a week we are seeing posters of her first show. While the band was in US and Canada, she was rather putting her new house in order,” said the source.
H-Metro also heard that Gonyeti wanted to capitalise on an anticipated revolt prior to Jah Prayzah’s album launch to boost her new group. She, however, scoffed at the reports saying she was neither part of the aborted stay away nor wanted to the unrest.
"Those are unfounded claims. I am starting something new which has nothing to do with any band. People continue to spread falsehoods about me, saying all sorts of things including am now with Andy Muridzo which is not true,” she said. - H Metro
