The EFF and DA are remaining silent about their reported deal that will see the ANC losing power in the Johannesburg and Pretoria metros.

DA spokeswoman Phumzile van Damme told Daily Sun she understood talks are ongoing but wouldn’t say anything else.

She said the media should talk to James Selfe, the DA’s leader of negotiations, but he was not available.

EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi was also unavailable.

An EFF press conference on the coalition update that was planned soon been postponed because of the Marikana massacre commemorations scheduled for tomorrow.

Last week, Floyd Shivambu told sister newspaper Sunday Sun the party was talking to the DA but could only say they expect to announce party coalition partners before the end of the week.

He said they have put forward policy positions which they want to be taken seriously. City Press, quoting people close to the negotiations, reported that a provisional deal had been struck.

It said should the talks be successfully concluded today, it would see the ANC losing control of big budget metros like Nelson Mandela Bay, Tshwane and Johannesburg.
