Wicknell Chivayo was given back his pair of shoes, which had allegedly been stolen by Ignatius Magaya and Lamusi Nthula at his house.

This was after Magaya and Nthula tod the court during their trial that they knew nothing about the nearly 100 pairs of shoes including the ones they were reportedly caught wearing.

Chivayo claimed in court that all the pairs of shoes are worth more than US $145 000.

State counsel Michael Reza made an application to have Chivayo given back his shoes after lawyers Liberty Gono and Admire Rubaya indicated that they will not cross-examine Chivayo over the shoes.

Gono is representing Nthula whilst Rubaya is representing Magaya. Circumstances leading to the two’s arrest are that Magaya was spotted wearing a pair of trending shoes belonging to Chivayo.

Magaya was then taken to the police where he made revelations that he was responsible of stealing Chivayo’s clothes plus various other properties from ten different people.

Magaya reportedly implicated Nthula, who was recently jailed for 11 years for processing articles for criminal use, he was found wearing a pair of shoes belonging to Chivayo, a Parish sweater and wrist watch upon his arrest.

A further search led to the recovery of four pairs of shoes, 31 shirts and other items which were in his car. But the two denied the allegations when they appeared before magistrate Noel Mupeiwa. - H Metro
