Harare – Zimbabwe will soon join other sovereign nations turning to biometric voting systems to deliver fair, credible elections absent of fraud and illegal practices to ensure democracy – though the system will not be in use in 2018.
The system is a security identification and authentication device, using automated methods of verifying identity of a living person based on behavioural characteristics. These include fingerprints, facial images, Iris prints and voice recognition.Election integrity is a cornerstone of democracy, promoting trust and honesty in elected governments, thereby instilling confidence in elected leaders.
