Harare – The ancient adage: like father like son is rewinding in the spiritual realm as Prophet Uerbert Angel was barred from politically volatile Zambia, while his spiritual son Shepherd Bushiri was being denied entry into Botswana.
Angel – complimentarily referred to as Major was refused entry into Zambia by immigration officials after landing at Kenneth Kaunda Airport from his UK base aboard an Emirates flight.Derick Matsengarwodzi
The flamboyant Zimbabwe-born preacher was accompanied by his wife – Beverly and two other unidentified characters, according to various media outlets.
Though motives for rejecting the Good News Church founder – formerly Spirit Embassy entry remains anonymous, Zambian immigration officials issued a statement for their action.
“The Department of Immigration at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Thursday, 4th May, 2017 refused entry to Prophet Uebert Angel, a Zimbabwean national, pursuant to the Immigration and Deportation Act, 2010,” said the department spokesperson.
After arriving at 3pm in the afternoon, the entourage was served with deportation orders, and subsequently left for their base with the same plane.
Despite the setback, Angel maintains the scheduled event will take place.
“What I can assure you is that the conferences that were pencilled in for Friday, the 5th, and Saturday, the 6th of May, will still go ahead as planned, and Prophet Angel will be live on Miracle TV,” said a spokesperson.
“He (Angel) will lead the conferences as planned because no one can stop the work of God, not even a government,” he added, “Prophet Angel is an apolitical leader, he is a Christian leader not aligned to any political party but God. He had a visa to enter Zambia.”
It is reported Angel was given stringent conditions which he refused to comply with and opted to go back to Britain.
Gaborone officials have denied Angel’s spiritual son Prophet Shepherd Bushiri entry into Botswana unless he applies for a Visa contrary to a waiver for Malawian nationals. His month end business conference and crusade could be in jeopardy.
In a signed statement, the Minister of immigration, Edwin Batshu said Bushiri must obtain a Visa to enter the country.
“Notice is hereby given that in accordance with regulation 5 of the Immigration (Visa) Regulations, the Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, hereby declares that Shepherd Huxley Bushiri of Malawian nationality is to obtain Visa to enter Botswana.”
Controversy has constantly stalked the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECGC) founder, who has prophesied imminent wars in Zambia and Morocco. In Zimbabwe, he also made political declarations.
Bushiri aka Major 1 domiciled in South Africa lives a sumptuous lifestyle and owns a private jet.
His spiritual father, Angel has quoted similar controversy after leaving Zimbabwe under unclear circumstances, with pending criminal cases. His spiritual money craze crusades attracted multitudes, and remain etched in many people’s hearts.
