Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane has praised Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter for the squad he selected to face Nigeria in an African Nations Cup qualifier in Uyo on June 10.

Baxter notably recalled Bongani Zungu and Turkey-based hitman Tokelo Rantie, while he also handed a maiden call-up to in-form Cape Town City star Aubrey Ngoma.

Mosimane, an ex-national team boss, feels Baxter has brought credibility to Bafana with his selections.

"He is a good coach. You can see the selection, we don't have stories. The only thing to check was it one left-back or two left-backs. I said there is credibility in bringing in Tokelo, that's what we want to see," says Mosimane.

Bafana will assemble in Johannesburg on Thursday ahead of their trip to West Africa next week.

Baxter is juggling responsibilities as he will continue coaching SuperSport United until the end of the domestic season, which culminates with Matsatsantsa's Nedbank Cup title defence against Orlando Pirates in the final on June 24.

The Brit was appointed by SAFA earlier this month on a five-year deal following the sacking of Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba in December last year. - Kickoff
