Pep Guardiola’s summer clear out at Manchester City gathered pace on Thursday as Willy Caballero, Jesus Navas and Bacary Sagna joined Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy in leaving the club.

The City manager is also ready to offload Joe Hart, Eliaquim Mangala, Samir Nasri and Wilfried Bony, all of whom spent last season out on loan, as he lays the groundwork for a summer of revolution at the club that is likely to mean up to seven new arrivals.

City will also listen to offers for midfielder Fernando and forwards Nolito and Kelechi Iheanacho this summer with around a dozen departures expected while Guardiola’s determination to retain Nicolas Otamendi may be tested with several Spanish clubs interested in the Argentina centre-half.

Guardiola wants to sign Juventus centre-half Leonard Bonucci as well as Tottenham right back, Kyle Walker, and ideally one of Alex Sandro, the Juventus left back, or Benjamin Mendy, as Monaco, following the departure of full-backs Zabaleta, Clichy and Sagna.

Zabaleta is close to joining West Ham, who are also interested in Clichy along with Paris St-Germain, Newcastle and Fenerbahce.

City were open to Caballero staying but the Argentine – whose penalty saving heroics helped the club to win the League Cup last season - wants to be a first choice goalkeeper and he has been linked with a return to Malaga.

Mangala is confident he will find a new club, despite Valencia being unwilling to meet City’s valuation of in excess of £20 million for the France defender.

“Today I'm on the market and there will be offers this summer, he said. “I was lucky to spend a month with Pep. I made more progress tactically in a month than in two previous years with City. I tell you, my best years are before me. I've never felt so strong. But for now, I don't know what my future will hold." - The Telegraph
