Uncertainty had engulfed the future of Mamelodi Sundowns star player, Khama Billiat – especially after the death of his agent Edzai Kasinauyo during contract talks – and perennial knocking by European suitors for the Zimbabwean born player’s signature.

Interested clubs from Egypt, Europe – and even England outfits were purportedly shut down, as the Brazilians hung on to their most prized player who was nursing a nagging injury – even leading Masandawana and Zimbabwe to engage in a war of words over the player’s availability for national duty.

But a recent appearance by the midfielder in new Sundowns kit could certainly mean his management has agreed on a new contract – though the team has not aired an official statement.
And the possibility of a three year extension could mean Billiat will probably end his playing career at the Tshwane outfit, when he finally turns 30.
The star is one player coach Pitso Mosimane misses dearly when he is absent. He moved to Chloorkop from Ajax Cape Town after prolonged transfer negotiations, with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates also lurking for his signature.
Due to the high demand, the Urban Warriors supposedly slapped an R10 million price-tag on his head, Sundowns eventually relented – and it immediately proved money well spent as Billiat became prized recruit.
After a trial with Lokomotiv Moscow in July 2013, Billiat joined Mamelodi Sundowns on 19 August 2013 on a five-year contract. His Sundowns debut was on 28 August in a 1–1 draw against Platinum Stars, while his first goal for the club came almost a month later in a 2–1 home victory against Bidvest Wits.
In his first season, Khama established a formidable combination with countryman Cuthbert Malajila, Dove Wome and Katlego Mashego – turning Downs into the PSL untouchable outfit – but a recurring foot injury cut short what could have been a memorable season.
Khama Billiat has represented Zimbabwe on various youth levels. Since then he has seen several appearances with the Zimbabwe national team during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches and various friendly matches scheduled, becoming a regular starter in the attacking midfield for the Warriors.
