Steve Komphela: Bobby Does not Sign Chiefs Players Alone

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela has dismissed suggestions that Bobby Motaung makes decisions on new signings on his own.

According to Komphela, Bobby Motaung is part of a team that decides on whether or not certain players should be signed.

The 50-year-old reiterated the importance of threading carefully when it comes to the players the club should pay for, saying they previously spent a lot of money on players who later didn’t add value to the growth of the team.
Deep in Conversation

The Glamour Boys have already made three signings in Philani Zulu and Bhongolethu Jayiya (both on free transfers), and bought Teenage Hadebe from Zimbabwean outfit Chicken Inn.

“It is confusing how the transfer market is treated in South Africa. It’s different to other countries, and it’s very difficult how it is done here,” Komphela was quoted as saying by Isolezwe.

“Being a free agent doesn’t mean you were chased away from your previous club. It’s important for our fans to know that, and to also understand that it’s not Bobby who makes decisions on his own,” added Komphela.

“We have a team… I’m also in that team, where we decide on the players we want. We spend a lot of time on them, because we’ve wasted money on certain players in the past,” concluded the Amakhosi coach. - Goal.com
