“Thank you for your perseverance and team spirit through our victorious wins and opportunities of improvement (losses). Lastly, thank to each and every supporter who rallied behind both me and the team in good and in bad times.

New Mamelodi Sundowns signing George Lebese has left an emotional goodbye message to Kaizer Chiefs, Kaizer Motaung and his teammates, for their endless support. The 28-year-old officially completed his return to Chloorkop, after having left the club as a young boy.

Lebese spent nine years plying his trade with Chiefs, where he went on to win every domestic trophy imaginable. But even with all the success, things didn’t go his way, and he often found himself left out of the squad be it due to injury or other reasons.

The switch to Sundowns comes at the right time in his career, and even though he is excited to return home, he couldn’t help but feel emotional when bidding the Glamour Boys farewell.

Lebese took to Instagram to address the Motaung family and Kaizer Chiefs, saying: “Dear Motaung family and the Kaizer Chiefs team. Thank you for believing in me and taking me in at a very young age to make my dream as a professional football player reality.

Thank you for trusting me even when I had my own doubts. Thank you for pushing me to merge to be the great player that I am today by motivating audaciousness and ferociousness.”

He then acknowledged his friends and colleagues: “To my ex-team members… Thank you for being a true family and being the perfect pieces to complete the puzzle in every match we played, without each one, the team would not have been complete.

“I wish you all nothing but success for the future as I take on a new venture.” - Online Sources
