ANC presidential candidate and Minister of Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu has promised to free jailed Thembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo if she becomes president.
Sisulu was welcomed to her ancestral land of Engcobo, near Mthatha, on Wednesday. She had been invited to receive blessings from her ancestors by the AmaGcina clan, which her family belongs to.She visited the kraal at Chief Daluxolo Jezile’s homestead at Sinqumeni Great Place, where they showed her a cow to be slaughtered in her honour.
Speaking in Xhosa, Sisulu said: “I would like to thank the king for sending his representatives to speak here. I am going into this war head-on.

“Should I succeed in becoming president of this country, the first thing I will do is free King Zwelibanzi.”
The king is currently serving a 12-year sentence at East London’s West Bank Prison for crimes he committed against his subjects in 1996.
Last year Sisulu spoke at the funeral of one of the king’s wives, Queen Nolitha Dalindyebo.
The Daily Dispatch quoted her as saying: “Our comradeship does not end when there is trouble. I have been assisting him with his legal issues. The king is hurt by the death of his wife and the fact that he is still behind bars.”
Speaking on behalf of the jailed king on Wednesday, Prince Mthunzi Ngonyama gave Sisulu his best wishes for her campaign. - Daily Sun
