Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs managed to halt their winless streak after humiliating Cape Town City 2-0 at their backyard, Cape Town Stadium.

The win means Chiefs have gained their first full three points in the PSL.

Siphiwe Tshabalala struck in the 47th min, while Wiseman Meyiwa silenced the veracious crowd, eight minutes before the end.

Under fire Steve Komphela had other ideas, with Tshabalala in full control of the midfield. Willard Katsande was a rocky-solid, thwarting the hosts’ strike- force with his hard tackling skills.

The loss is the first for new coach Benni McCarthy, who has reached the MTN8 final.

McCarthy felt Modise's creative outlet was sorely missed against a makeshift Amakhosi rearguard - minus Erick Mathoho, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Tsepo Masilela, that held firm under Khune's supervision at Cape Town Stadium.

"Losing Teko, losing the one player that can really unlock that defence even though they are sitting back... because in those little pockets that's where I wanted him to be playing so he can slot in those little balls. Then when you lose him, the whole dynamics changed," McCarthy said.

In other matches, Golden Arrows humiliated Bidvest Wits 3-1 in Braamfontein. Maritzburg United host Orlando Pirates at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday while Ajax Cape Town play Polokwane City at Cape Town Stadium. - Online Sources
