Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane is reportedly on the radar of PSL heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs.

The attacking midfielder's current Sundowns deal is due to expire at the end of this season and he is reportedly yet to be offered a contract extension.

It is said that Chiefs are monitoring his situation at the Chloorkop-based side, while an unnamed foreign club is also interested in Zwane.

The Bafana Bafana international, who has established himself as one of the top midfielders in the country, was recently linked with top PSL sides SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates.

Zwane netted nine goals in all competitions last season and he played an instrumental role in helping Sundowns win the 2016 Caf Champions League title.

With interest reportedly mounting in one of their prized assets, the Brazilians are likely to open contract extension talks with Zwane soon.

The 28-year-old player, who is technically gifted, joined Sundowns in 2011 after the club beat Pirates to his services. He spent the 2013/14 season out on loan at Mpumalanga Black Aces, who are now known as Cape Town City.

Meanwhile, Chiefs have revitalised their interest in Free State Stars’ Sinethemba Jantjie, according to Siya sources. Jantjie has once again caught the eye of onlookers following his impressive performances for a Lla Koto this season.

The winger has made a name for himself in the PSL since making his debut in South Africa’s top tier last season. Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United are some of the clubs that have been linked to the 28-year-old in the past.

Now, as reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi have revived their interest in Stars’ on-form player as are assessing their options as they look to bolster their squad.

“Kaizer Chiefs have renewed their interest in Sinethemba Jantjie from Free State Stars. The player’s name has been discussed as a potential signing for Chiefs, especially now that the club is believed to be considering parting ways with Joseph Molangoane.

“Wits are also interested in Jantjie. The club has identified him as a possible replacement for Phakamani Mahlambi, who left for Egypt (Al Ahly) on a big-money move. Expect competition from the two clubs (Chiefs and Wits) for the player’s signature in January,” said the source.

Jantjie has played in all six matches for Ea Lla Koto this season. He scored the solitary goal as Stars beat Maritzburg United 1-0 in the last league match for Luc Eymael’s team before the FIFA international break. - Online Sources
