The Facebook-owned messaging app has finally launched its ‘delete for everyone’ feature - and it works.

WhatsApp’s newest feature could spare you from potential embarrassment if you have sent someone a message not intended for them.

Now users will be able to delete messages sent to one person or an entire group. The catch is that you only have seven minutes to delete them after being sent.

Once a message has been deleted, the recipient will be notified. The feature works when sending any text or media.
Users can now Recall Misplaced Messages

For the text to be successfully removed, both sender and message recipient need the latest version of WhatsApp.

To delete a message:
Open WhatsApp and go to the chat containing the message you want to delete.

Tap and hold the message, choose "delete" from the menu. Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once.

Tap "delete" or "delete for everyone".

Your contact will still be able to see the messages if you choose the 'delete for me' option, so choose "delete for everyone".

WhatsApp has warned that the messages won’t always be revoked.

“Recipients may see your message before it's deleted or if deletion was not successful. You will not be notified if deleting for everyone was not successful,” the FAQ reads.

This feature is being rolled out for all users on the latest versions of iPhone, Android, Windows Phone as well as the desktop version. - Online Sources
