Harare – Norman Mapeza kept his composure to guide FC Platinum to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) championship at the expense of fading Harare giants, Dynamos.

DeMbare wished FC Platinum could lose at Chapungu – and in turn they beat Chicken Inn to claim the eluding trophy, since 2014.

The win becomes Mapeza’s second premiership triumph, after his previous success with the now defunct, Monomotapa FC in 2008.

Despite the chaos that marred the closing stages of the Gweru match, when official barred journalist from taking images of the winners, the win will send the mining town of Zvishavane into rare jubilation.

FC Platinum dismissed the airmen 2 nill, while Dynamos accounted for former champions Chicken Inn – 1 nill in Harare.

“I have always said that football is my life and I am a professional. I might have lost two games with Platinum but everyone should understand that I have been in charge of the team for just two weeks and my team played four games in the league”

“I am still coming up with a team and I need time and I am not under any pressure. I came to Platinum because they had offered me a job and for the record no other club in Zimbabwe offered me a job,’’ Mapeza said in 2014.

Mapeza was born on 12 April 1972 in Harare and he played as defender and midfielder position. In 2012, he was suspended from his job as Zimbabwe's national football team manager for alleged match-fixing.

The coach began his playing career with Darryn Textiles F.C. in Harare. He moved to Europe to play with Sokół Pniewy in the Polish Ekstraklasa for the 1993–94 season.

Mapeza next played for several clubs in the Türkish Super Lig, including Galatasaray S.K., Ankaragücü, Altay S.K. and Malatyaspor.

He was only the second Zimbabwean player to play in the UEFA Champions League, appearing in the competition with Galatasaray in the 1990s.

FC Platinum is a Zimbabwean football club based in Zvishavane, Midlands Province, and playing in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

In 2010 the club was known as Mimosa Football Club. Mimosa won the ZIFA Division One Central Region and in January 2011 changed their name to FC Platinum.

Amononh their honours are: Chibuku Super Cup winners in 2014, Independence Cup Winners, 2014 and Bob 88 Cup Winners in 2012. - Online Sources
