Johannesburg - Veteran midfielder Siphiwe “Shabba” Tshabalala says his hunger for success has grown following a three year absence from the Bafana Bafana set-up.
The Kaizer Chiefs star had his first training session with the national team yesterday but did not finish the session as a precautionary measure for his recovering hip injury.Amakhosi’s talisman is optimistic that Bafana can defeat Senegal in their 2018 World Cup qualifier on Friday.
The 33-year-old said he would keep working hard to help the team achieve their dream of reaching the World Cup finals in Russia.
Shabba Hungry to Win |
“I feel good and happy to be back,” Shabba said in Polokwane yesterday.
“I’m ready and eager for the big match. For me it’s business as usual and I will do my best to make a valuable contribution.”
Bafana cannot afford to lose or draw against Senegal in their two-legged qualifier, with the second and last set for Dakar on Tuesday.
Said Shabba: “It’s in our hands. We have what it takes to qualify. It’s a tough hurdle but we have enough ammunition to win the two matches.
“It’s a big game and this is the best time to play for Bafana. It’s a great test for us and all the big players want to play in this type of a game. I am where I’m needed and I want to help my country.” - Daily Sun
