Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs have bolstered their backroom staff by appointing a new technical adviser.

Dutchman Robert Hutting is a 62-year-old former professional footballer and manager, and has previously worked in Germany and Belgium.

Records show that Hutting last worked as manager of German fourth-tier outfit FC Wegberg-Beeck back in 2006.

While little is known about the man before his appointment at Chiefs, the Soweto giants have given information on who he is and where he comes from.

“Kaizer Chiefs would like to announce the appointment of Robertus ‘Rob’ Hutting as the club’s Technical Advisor to the senior and youth academy teams.

“Hutting was born in the Netherlands in 1955. He holds a UEFA Pro licence from the Dutch National boards and a Masters Degree: Postacademical University Leuven/Belgium.

“He has played football as midfielder and striker for clubs in Holland and Belgium. He also coached a number of clubs in Belgium, Holland and Germany.

“Hutting’s will play an advisory role and help with the coordination of the two technical teams, working with coach Steve Komphela and his counterparts in the youth development,” Chiefs confirmed on the club’s official website.

Hutting told Chiefs’ website, “I am honoured to be here and will serve the club with pride,” says Hutting. “This is a special day for me. I have been following Kaizer Chiefs and South African football for a while and looking forward to working with coach Steve and the rest of the coaches here at Kaizer Chiefs.”

Hutting comes with great football and man-management experience. “I believe my competence, qualities and experience will contribute to the improvement of the club,” he concludes.

Hutting will be with Kaizer Chiefs until the end of the current season, with the view of extending his stay with the Glamour Boys.

Coach Steve Komphela who was part of the process of bringing Hutting to Chiefs welcomed Hutting to the club. “A hearty welcome to Rob and we look forward to his cooperation and contribution to Kaizer Chiefs.”

The club on Tuesday announced the arrival of  Hutting as a technical adviser to coach Steve Komphela and his assistant Patrick Mabedi, as well as the youth academy until the end of the 2017/18 season, with an option to extend.

“I am honoured to be here and will serve the club with pride,” Hutting was quoted as saying on Chiefs' website.

“This is a special day for me. I have been following Kaizer Chiefs and South African football for a while and looking forward to working with coach Steve and the rest of the coaches here at Kaizer Chiefs.

“There is tremendous energy in the club. I want to work 24/7. I came to serve the club and bring all my experience. I believe my competence, qualities and experience will contribute to the improvement of the club."

The appointment comes on the back of a two-and-a-half-year trophy drought at Naturena, with the club now hoping to salvage something before the end of the current campaign.

Chiefs still have the Absa Premiership title and Nedbank Cup to fight for, with Komphela's contract also set to come to an end at the end of the season. - Online Sources
