Johannesburg - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt admits they’re in for a tough test against an in-form Kaizer Chiefs this weekend, but draws confidence from their previous meetings.
Chiefs seem to have found their feet of late, having strung together a six-match unbeaten streak since early December – managing four wins and two draws, while conceding only two goals – and currently occupy third spot on the table.Steve Komphela’s side boasts the joint-best defensive record in the Absa Premiership this season, having conceded just 11 goals in 19 matches – on par with Maritzburg United.
They managed to also restrict the best attacking team in the league in log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns – who have scored 31 goals in 19 games – to a goalless stalemate last weekend.
But Hunt feels Chiefs were unlucky not to come away with more than just a point against The Brazilians.

“Yeah, I’ve watched them. They are not an easy team to play, I thought they were very unlucky against Sundowns,” said Hunt.
“They’ve also made a few signings, which has certainly helped them, if you look at their team structure. So, it won’t be easy [to beat them].”
The last time the two sides met the Clever Boys edged the Glamour Boys 1-0, courtesy of a James Keene header at Bidvest Stadium in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals in November.
The hosts amassed 13 shots at goal with six of those on target, while Chiefs registered just seven shots on goal and two on target.
Their first round Absa Premiership meeting in this campaign ended 1-1, as Amr Gamal's late strike cancelled out Siphiwe Tshabalala's opener at FNB Stadium in September.
However, Wits were again the dominant outfit, having managed 16 attempts on goal and 10 on target – compared to Amakhosi’s four and only one of those finding the target.
Hunt, therefore, believes his side shouldn’t have a problem creating chances against the best defensive side in the league, but hopes they can convert their opportunities as they did recently in their 4-1 thrashing of SuperSport United.
“I always work on trying to score rather than trying not to concede, but it’s easier said than done. You’ve got to create the chances first,” he added.
“Against Chiefs, the problem we’ve always had is that we create a lot and don’t score many. We create more than we did in the last game against SuperSport but we don’t score.
“Even in the [Telkom] cup game, when we beat them 1-0, we could have made it safe before they had one or two chances to score at the end.
“People look at that, but I look at how many opportunities we had before they even had one opportunity, so that’s important. We need to score. But, that has been the story of our season, hasn’t it?"
Wits and Chiefs will lock horns at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening, with kick-off pencilled in for 18h00. - KickOff
