Samuel Eto’o has been urged to come out of retirement for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations by former international Bill Tchato.
The 37-year-old has been unavailable for selection by Cameroon since August 2014, having decided to call it a day after earning 188 caps.But he has continued to show his class since joining Turkish side Konyaspor in January this year where he has scored four goals in eight appearances.
Tchato is now convinced that the former Indomitable Lions captain can be persuaded to represent his country again in next year’s Afcon that will be hosted in Cameroon.
“I think Eto’o can play in one more Africa Cup of Nations and win the trophy with the team.It would be good thing if he plays this Afcon at home,” Tchato told Chaba237 Foot.

“I hope he will do it because he will make a big impact for Cameroon and he can bring something to the young players who need some influential players on the pitch and outside.”
The former Barcelona, Inter and Real Madrid player made his international debut in 1997 during a 5-0 defeat to Costa Rica where he played alongside Tchato who has now quit football to concentrate on coaching.
He went on to become an Olympic gold medalist at Sydney 2000, scoring in the final against Spain to take the match to extra-time and also slotting home his kick in the penalty shoot-out victory.
Eto’o is the leading all-time scorer in the Nations Cup with 18 goals and he appeared at four World Cup finals – 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2014 – playing in eight matches and scoring three goals.
His last match for Cameroon was the 1-0 defeat by Mexico at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. - Online Sources
