Harare – Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti who turned 100 on 5 May has been preaching the gospel for more than 70 years, while his church Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa founded in 1960, turns 62.
Born in 1923, in Ngaone in Chipinge, the man of God is married to Archbishop Eunor Guti - the first female Archbishop in Zimbabwe, who is gifted in healing, deliverance and evangelism.
The ministry was begun under a gum tree on 12 May 1960 in Bindura, Zimbabwe. To date, ZAOGA is present in over 135 nations, with over 2,000 churches in Southern Africa.
Between 1948 and 1949, Guti travelled to the then Salisbury (now Harare) where he met a man he had been shown in a dream who explained and baptised him. He started to speak in tongues.
Dr Guti has ministered for over 70 years and spoken in many different countries, colleges and universities. He has founded seven Bible colleges named Africa MultiNation For Christ College (AMFCC), with three in Zimbabwe, two in Mozambique, one in Zambia and one in Ghana.
He has also founded various ministries including F.I.F. Children’s Home, Africa Christian Business Fellowship, and Gracious Women's Fellowship. He has penned over 69 books on his teachings.
On the international arena, Dr Guti has accepted invitations to preach and teach in several African nations as well as in Europe, USA, Asia-Pacific countries, and the Bahamas. He has spoken in Bible schools, colleges, universities, and on television and radio programmes.
