Harare — Malawian Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has ignited a storm, saying Zimbabwe will be like Dubai is six years time, after decades of ruin.

Dubai is the largest and most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is the capital of the Emirate of Dubai, one of the seven emirates that make up the country.

It emerged as a global city and business hub of the Middle East. It is also a major transport hub for passengers and cargo.

Born Shepherd Huxley Bushiri 'Major One' to his legion of followers, also prophesied the elevation of current vice president Kembo Mohadi — is a Christian evangelical preacher from Malawi.

He founded and leads a Christian church known as the Enlightened Christian Gathering, based in Pretoria, South Africa and with branches in other African countries.

His gatherings attract large crowds and his followers believe he performs miracles. His wealth and the means by which he has acquired it have occasioned comment.
Dubai the Business Hub of Middle East

“You know God said I’m about to bring something to Zimbabwe. Its a city. It looks like Dubai. I’m seeing a new city in Zimbabwe. I’m seeing a new city. In Zimbabwe. I had a vision. It looked like Dubai. I said Lord bless this land,” he said.

“God said tell this message to Zimbabwean people in the diaspora who are struggling in other nations.”

Bushiri was brought up in Mzuzu which is the northern part of Malawi. He runs an investment company, Shepherd Bushiri Investments, based in Sandton near Johannesburg, with interests in mining and other property.

He now owns four private planes. In response to questions over the source of his wealth, he has said "I am a businessman and that is separate from being a prophet. My prosperity is from private businesses. Such questions are not asked from leaders of white churches but when an African man prospers, then it's a problem."

Bushiri is founder of ECG. He has established and leads churches in South Africa, Ghana and other countries. His gatherings, at which a range of merchandise is on sale, often attract tens of thousands of devotees.

The ECG was closed down in Botswana in December 2017 for contravention of financial regulations and Bushiri has been required to obtain a visa if he wishes to re-enter the country, even though this is not generally required of Malawians. The church has appealed against the decision.

Bushiri is a spiritual son of Multimillionaire businessman and leader of Spirit Embassy, Prophet Uebert Angel. The two are believed to be involved in joint ventures, in January and February 2018 news circulated the media about their trips to the United States, Malawi and Nigeria looking for investment opportunities.

With Bushiri being the most celebrated and popular Spiritual Son of Prophet Angel. Bushiri has claimed to have cured people of HIV and blindness. He appeared to walk on air in a video shared widely on social media.

Bushiri's claims resonates with MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa who has been on a cmapaign trail, sating his government will build bullet trains and spaghetti roads.

Speaking at the Buhera rally over the weekend, he said he would change Murambinda Mission Hospital into a general hospital.

“Murambinda should not remain as a growth point. It should develop to be a town or a city. I want to tell you that once I get into office, Murambinda should be renamed from Murambinda Growth Point to Murambinda City. We want to develop Buhera into a city not a town.

“Why should we develop Buhera? We should not go to Harare to withdraw our money. We should not go to Harare to sell our products. We also want to refurbish roads. We want this road from Murambinda to Birchenough Bridge to be tarred,” said the charismatic leader.
