Speaking to the media, Mnangagwa said he has now survived six attempts on his life now, but "his enemies will die before him."
"It exploded before me, but it is not my time yet. Those who
did it will go before me," said Mnangagwa.
Previously, the president was poisoned in Bulawayo and cyanide was discovered at his offices, after a series of break in by unknown assailants.
Presidential spokesman George Charamba said: “President Mnangagwa has not been injured and is at Bulawayo State House. Investigations are underway and more details will be given to the public. There have been multiple attempts on the President’s life over the past five years.”
"Chiwenga had slight bruises on his face but he is fine. Four security personnel and some chiefs were also injured so all in all we are talking of 8 or 9 people who have been injured."
Meanwhile, Officer Commanding Bulawayo province Senior Assistant Commissioner Learn Ncube told The Herald that they have already commenced investigations into the matter.
“I can confirm that there was an explosion at White City Stadium and that the President is safe. He was safely evacuated and investigations are already underway."
Professor Jonathan Moyo has responded to the act.
"Today's explosion at White City Stadium in Byo is a tragic reminder that the use of tanks, bombs, grenades & guns by whosoever against anyone to settle a political contest is barbaric.
