Chitungwiza — Dr Fay Chung belongs to a rare breed of educationists. 

In 1962, she obtained her first degree, getting her postgraduate Certificate in Education in 1965, while her Doctorate came in 1999.

Dr Chung has spent most of her life in education. From 1963 to 1968 Dr Chung taught at high schools levels at Ascot and Harare High Schools in Zimbabwe. 

Between 1971 and 1975, she lectured in Zambia. Thereafter, she she worked for the ruling party in charge of teacher education and curriculum development for Zimbabwean refugees schools in Mozambique, until 1980.

When Zimbabwe was liberated, Dr Chung served in various positions within the ministry of education, spending 14 years in the government. She a founder of the Women University in Africa. Dr Chung’s career has been almost exclusively in education. 

She was involved in various organisations, such as the Zimbabwe Foundation for Education with Production (ZIMFEP). Dr Chung served as a board member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Development Studies (ZIDS). 

The famous educator is a founder member of the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAEW), a network of education ministers, women university vice-chancellors and other women educational leaders in Africa,.

Dr Chung is the founder member of the Association for Strengthening Higher Education for Women in Africa (ASHEWA). She is also a member of the Zimbabwe National Education Advisory Board as of 18 March 2009.

Chipo Chung, he daughter is a renowned actress. Dr Chung is a Zimbabwean born in 1941. for her unequivocal dedication, she has possessed the education mountain, a theme for the ongoing Tiyambuke 2019 yearly conference in Chitungwiza.
