Celebrity Crush: Of Men, Wives and Mothers' Love

An Irish proverb once said that “A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.”

Nora Keita Jemisin, the first Africa-American to claim the Hugo Award for Best Novel, not once but thrice in a row, once equated mothers to gods.

By @ComicDerick24

“In a child’s eyes, a mother is a goddess. She can be glorious or terrible, benevolent or filled with wrath, but she commands love either way,” the writer claimed. “I am convinced that this is the greatest power in the universe.”

Motherhood has unique effects on everyone, including celebrities. Brad Pitt is reportedly very close to his mother Janet, adding that she is very protective over him, looking out for him like any mother would.

At the premiere of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” in 2008, Brad took her mother as his date. Wikipedia, an online encyclopaedia defines mothers as, “women who inhabit or perform the role of bearing some relation to their children, who may or may not be their biological mother.

And studies have revealed that losing a mother or parent can induce long-term emotional and mental health issues, including depression, anxiety. Or even substance abuse. One of the suggested ways to cope with the loss of a mother is to never suppress your sorrow or your memories of her.

When Zimbabwean rapper Stunner, birth name Desmond Chideme lost his mother, he broadcasted the sad news on social media. “Please don’t come to my phone and tell me it is going to be okay, it’s never going to be okay,” Stunner posted on Instagram.

The singer’s moving tribute reveals their close bond and how she protected him, always. “Who is going to tell me, you are drinking too much bring some of those bottles to the nest. Who is going to pray for me when I travel when I’m low?” cried Stunner who had more questions than answers concerning her mother’s death.

“Who is going to prepare and force me to take Zumbani (Fever Tea tree) and Moringa (Drumstick tree) powder? Who will do the rosary for me because I never learned,” mourned Stunner in a post with a photo planting flowers on his mother’s grave.

From Brad’s recorded mother and son relationship to Stunner’s homage to his dear mother, it shows that mothers will always remain relevant, despite one’s life status.

Also, men, no matter how successful they are will always search for their mothers’ comfort and love, even if they are married. In short: the first cut is the deepest.

Socialite Prophet Passion Java lost his mother, the same day Stunner was in mourning. Christine Java succumbed to cancer aged 65. Again the social media savvy clergy chose Instagram, penning a heartfelt message.

“The womb that carried Pasion Java. The general that brought forth the prophet. The hands that nursed an enigma, the man, and his mission,” Prophet Passion wrote. Revealing his vulnerability in loss, just like everyone else, the prophet added, “I am touched and I am crushed at the same time.”

Known for loudly flaunting his wealth, including an unrivalled adoration of parading shoes, self-proclaimed entrepreneur Wicknell Chivayo changed the script when he lost his mother recently. Like his bereaved colleagues, he offloaded his anguish.

“Dear mum, I can’t still believe you are gone. A fighter since day one and a survivor till the very end. You were my life’s best friend and always put my needs before yours,” Chivayo Tweeted. “Go, well mummy, I promise I’m going to make you proud.”
