Orlando Pirates Player Tested Positive for Drug Use

It remains to be seen how the Premier Soccer League will react to the matter. However, Pirates have released a statement ensuring that the club will look into the matter.

"Following the announcement by SAIDS (South African Institute of Drug Free Sports) that one of our players has failed a doping test, the Club hereby confirms that it has been made aware and is looking into the matter.

"At this point it is important that the due process in terms of the player appearing before the disciplinary committee of SAIDS is respected and that the Club in its endeavour to get to the bottom of this, will conduct its own investigation.

"The Club, as a policy, is against any use of banned substances whether for performance enhancement or recreational use."

We humbly request that the Media kindly give this process the space that it deserves, and the Club will await the outcome of the hearing and deal with the matter in terms of the Club Policy Handbook." - Daily Sun
