Oscar Pistorius is back in his cell after spending some hours in hospital, apparently with cuts on his wrist.

The convicted murderer was rushed to Pretoria’s Kalafong Hospital on Saturday, guarded by about ten warders.

Department of correctional services spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo confirmed that Oscar was taken to hospital after he reported to prison officials that he had fallen out of bed.

Nxumalo said Oscar was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was discharged the same day. “After receiving treatment he was taken back to prison to continue serving his sentence,” said Nxumalo.

He said the athlete told authorities he had injured himself after falling out of bed but an inmate situated close to the hospital section told City Press Oscar had injured himself intentionally.

Nxumalo said by law, they were not allowed to comment on an inmate’s condition. “All we can say is that Oscar is back at our facility.”

Some reports speculate that Oscar had hurt himself on purpose. Sources from prison said pieces of razor blade were found in his cell and the source claimed that Oscar cut his wrist intentionally.

“His wrist was bandaged and doctors stopped the blood,” said the source. The multiple gold medal-winning athlete is serving six years for murdering his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day in 2013.

The 29-year-old was initially given a five-year term for manslaughter, but was found guilty of murder on appeal in December. He admitted killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, but said he thought she was an intruder at his home. - Online Sources
