Harare - Minnows, Mighty Warriors of Zimbabwe scored in their Olympic Game’s debut against giants Germany, however they lost the game 6-1.

As expected, Germany dominated proceedings from the onset restricting the Mighty Warriors into a defensive mode for the better part of the one-sided game.

Kudakwashe Bhasopo stunned the German team scoring after good build play inciting a wave of cheers from the stadium that were behind the Mighty Warriors for most of the game.

Despite the possession Germany enjoyed it took them 22 minutes to finally unlock the Mighty Warriors with Sara Dabritz heading in.

In the 36th minute Germany added a second when the Mighty Warriors again struggled to deal with the aerial threat as Alexandar Popp rose high to score.

Zimbabwe’s joy was short lived though as Germany scored minutes later through Melanie Behringer’s curling free kicker.

As the game progressed the Germans pressed for more goals and add more goals as the Mighty Warriors succumbed to the pressure Behringer added a fourth before Leupolz scored the fifth from the penalty spot after Majika was judged to have committed a foul.

The difference in class was visible as Germans who are mainly professional enjoyed the lion's share of the game against their semi-professional counterparts. Despite the loss, Zimbabwe has fared well as many expected them to lose by a wider margin.
