Harare – The recent annotations aimed at President Robert Mugabe that, ‘he should have gone years ago,’ are not new – the Botswana Premier Ian Khama has said it – not once, not twice – but… tinzwei.com brings you the timeline.

In 2014, the Botswana President was alleged to have snubbed his Zimbabwe counterpart. The allegations arose during a SADC head of states summit.

Botswana spokesman Jess Ramsay denied the incident. The duo had been elected chairman and deputy at Victoria Falls.

According to media reports, Khama remained holed in his hotel room – only to resurface for a photo session – and he ‘snubbed’ Mugabe’s closing speech.

Khama went straight to his hotel room – he only surfaced for a head of state group photo session after the official opening of the summit, the newspaper reported.
Ian Khama and Robert Mugabe
“President Khama attended the working sessions of the summit in full and looks forward to working with the chairman of the SADC, President Robert Mugabe, in the coming months,” Botswana spokesman said.

However, the Gaborone convoy refused Harare chauffeured vehicles.

Accusations of ‘election rigging, financing the opposition – and spy missions’ have been peddled between the neighbouring nations.

President Jacob Zuma ganged with Ian Khama to dismiss claims of xenophobia attacks against Zimbabweans, saying Harare should be grateful as the two nations retains more than there million undocumented Zimbabweans.

Khama has not lost his charm offensive – recently, he noted to the media.

“Without doubt. He should have done it years ago. They have got plenty of people there who have got good leadership qualities who could take over,” he retorted when asked what he thought of Mugabe’s continues stay in power.

As the two statesmen continue their state obligations, the world should brace for more clashes.
