Budding Hotelier: Cristiano Ronaldo Opens New CR7 Hotel

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid star and budding hotelier, will be opening a new hotel in Lisbon next month, the country's ministry of tourism announced this week.

The country's state secretary for tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, confirmed that permission for the opening of the Pestana CR7 Lisbon has been granted.

While no further details about the design of the hotel have been unveiled, it will come as no surprise should the new Lisbon outpost take a similar theme as the Pestana CR7 Funchal, which is full of references to the football star, from wall-mounted football shirts to caricatures of himself in the rooms.
New CR7 Hotel

The new hotel will be the second property from the CR7 brand, the Portuguese football player’s collaboration with Portuguese hotel group Pestana, following the launch of its first instalment in his hometown of Funchal in Madeira last month.

Set on Rua da Prata in the heart of the city, the new hotel will be aimed at younger guests (aged between 18 and 34), with a greater focus on its digital services, high-tech facilities and public spaces over the guest rooms.

Offering 82 rooms and one suite, the rooms will be priced from €250 (£209) to €1,250 (£1,047) per night. The sleek and stylish hotel in Funchal features 49 rooms furnished with mid-century style design chairs, interesting lamps and banana-print throws and cushions.

The CR7 brand will also be launching hotels in New York and Madrid. The Pestana group has 90 properties in 15 countries across the globe.

With a hotel, statue, wax work, underwear range, fragrance, movie and museum already paying homage to the 31-year-old, you probably thought we had reached peak Ronaldo.

But last month, Madeira International Airport was renamed after Portugal’s answer to David Beckham after he visited the island for the opening of his hotel. - Online Sources
