Harare – As rampant corruption threaten to engulf Zanu-Pf and the society at large – the army has condemned the cancer, saying the economy remains stagnant because of this malice.

“Corruption is a cancer, which is taking the nation backwards, thereby causing insecurity to the nation.
“It is now a security threat because it is causing people to create mafias or alliances where if one is accused of being corrupt, he quickly asks for the help of other big names to protect him or her,” Chief of Staff Administration Major General Douglas Nyikayaramba said.
Professor Jonathan Moyo, a kingpin in the unfolding Zimdef scandal was covered from arrest by the executive, prompting a public outcry.
“The ordinary citizens expect authorities to address these issues, but then if they see nothing happening to the alleged criminals, they will end up being ungovernable and creating problems for the defence forces,” added Nyikayaramba.

Riots have engulfed Harare as people demand a decent living, while high-ranking people in government were being named as corruption conduits as factionalism within the party takes a pivotal stage.
