Harare – The proponents for ivory trade triplets comprising Zimbabwe, Namibia and host South Africa were shot down at the ongoing CITES meeting – putting the debate to bed, for now.

76 members voted against the proposal – while 20 voted in favour.

Harare has a 96 tonne ivory stockpile – and the rejection has irked the mister on environment and tourism, Oppah Muchinguri.
