Following the death of actor Joe Mafela, many fans of SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy are wondering how his character will be written out.
At the time of his death, the legendary Joe – who rose to fame in the role of Sdumo in ‘Sgudi ‘Snaysi – portrayed Tebogo Moroka.A source has revealed to Daily Sun that a meeting was called by Generations creator and executive producer Mfundi Vundla at the SABC studios on Monday to discuss Joe’s character.

“It was tense and emotional for everyone,” said the source. “Bra Joe was supposed to shoot this week.”
According to the soapie’s storyline, Tebogo Moroka is in Rustenburg, and, most likely, his character might not return.
Vundla said: “He passed away in real life, so we can’t kill him on the show, too. His character has gone to Rustenburg and won’t return. We’re still working around how we’ll write him out.”
He and his staff were shocked when they heard of Joe’s death. “His death was unexpected because he seemed so healthy,” he said.
“You usually expect this to happen when someone becomes very ill, but Bra Joe seemed so energetic. It has been hard to take it in. For me personally, he played an important role in my career.
“I worked with him in theatre in the 1960s, and recently got to work with him again, so I feel like we had come full circle. He was a father figure who symbolised respect.” - Daily Sun
