Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Manqoba “Shakes” Ngwenya has been bust with drugs.
The dribble wizard was arrested at Monte Casino in Joburg on Sunday morning. He was taken to Douglasdale cop shop, where he was later released on R500 bail.![]() |

He appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court yesterday on charges of drug possession. The 36-year-old former Wits University and Sundowns star made one appearance for Bafana in the 2003 Cosafa Cup against Zimbabwe.
He was also part of the Sundowns PSL winning squad between 2005 and 2007. Shakes was recently released by his Botswana team, Township Rollers, which he joined in 2013.
He last played for the PSL in 2011 for Mpumalanga Black Aces. Shakes joined Rollers in 2013 after a short stint at Notwane, also in Botswana. Earlier this year he played for Rollers in the CAF Champions League. - Daily Sun
