Harare – Cameroonian import, Christian Ntouba Epoupa struck twice as Harare giants, Dynamos dispatched league holders Caps United in a volatile derby at the National Sports Stadium.

The brace increases Epoupa’s goal tally to 11, to become the leading scorer.

Epoupa had been a subject of a heated last minute transfer discussion after fake contingent of scouts had dangled a counterfeit contract to lure him to the lucrative South African league.
His thwarted lucrative move could have made him the most expensive football player from Zimbabwe to South Africa.

The haste negotiations by the so-called scouts sought to trigger a free agent clause for the Cameroonian, rising suspicions within the management.
Wonder Striker, Christian Epoupa
However, the Dynamos executive was adamant not to release him, much to the disappointment of Epoupa, who had insisted he wanted to move.

The victory propels Dembare to their legion of fans, with a real chance to clinch the 2017 Castle Lager Premier League. In a largely physical encounter, Epoupa silenced the Caps legion in the first half injury time.

Caps United launched spirited attacks in the second half, but a contentious 75th minute free kick by Ocean Mushure deflated their contest. The searching kick was dutifully converted by Epoupa.

This is the sixth win for Dembare, before they encounter struggling Highlanders next week. The Bulwayo giants lost again to Chapungu via a Brighton Mugoni strike.

Elsewhere, FC Platinum remains resilient as Gift Bello broke the hearts of a resolute Hwange. The match ended 1nil. Title contenders Ngezi Platinum lost to weeping boys Shabanie Mine  by a similar margin.
