Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker is hoping that his midweek goal against Mamelodi Sundowns could be the start of a purple patch in front of goal.

The goal was Parker's first in the league this season and helped ensure a confidence-lifting 2-1 victory away at Sundowns on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old explained just how important confidence is in football and will now be looking to get on the score-sheet when Chiefs meet old foes Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3:30pm kick off).
Bernard Parker

"It's all about confidence. If you get given confidence, with the quality you possess as a footballer, nothing can stop you," he said.

"The right mentality, right attitude. Keeping your mind clear all the time. And opening your heart as well, taking more of the positives, and the positive happenings will follow.

"Going into the game [against Pirates] with what we came back with [against Sundowns], I think we should keep the tactical discipline. We should keep doing what worked for us." - Online Sources
