Bobby Motaung: Chiefs is 'Heaven', Players Refuse to Move

Johannesburg - Crazy things are happening at Naturena. While some players lacking game time insist on relocating elsewhere, others elect to hang around doing absolutely nothing because Amakhosi is like 'heaven', according to team manager, Bobby Motaung.

Currently, the club is negotiating for some players to move elsewhere but they are facing stiff resistance with some who are content with being hangers on.

“Even players that we wanted to loan [out], some don't want to leave. I don't know why, Chiefs is like 'heaven' I think. Even a player that you feel needs game time it's painful for them to leave.

“But at the end of the day, we can't deprive players of exposing themselves. I mean a player is as good as his last game,” Motaung confided to KickOff recently.

He likened dormant players to a car in the garage.
Bobby Motaung Says Chiefs is 'Heaven'

“If players are not playing you don't take pride and say 'I got a Porsche it's in the garage I'm not driving it'. The car wants to move, you can't be paying players that are not playing because we are paying them to work and express themselves.

But others insist on moving even when opportunities abound.

“So it becomes a bit difficult, but others don't want to leave even if you say here is an opportunity for you. But if clubs want players from us we do open doors to loan them out. Celtic approached us for a defender and we gave them Lorenzo Gordinho and he is playing.

He continued, “Also it's benefiting us because our players are somewhere in other clubs competing and it's to our benefit.”

Gordinho will follow the footsteps of former Glamour Boys apprentices loaned out recently. in January 2016, Kaizer Chiefs loaned out Zimbabwean Ovidy Karuru and Ugandan Sula Matovu.
