Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs' new goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter is impressed with the setup at Naturena and believes a club of Amakhosi's stature should be winning a trophy every season.

Chiefs on Monday announced the appointment of Baxter on a two-and-a-half year deal as the replacement for Brazilian Alex Revoredo, who passed away in August last year.

The 41-year-old is the son of British Bafana Bafana boss Stuart, who steered the Glamour Boys to two league titles and Nedbank Cup and MTN8 honours from 2012 to 2015.

Lee served under his father as a keeper coach at SuperSport United last season, while he has also been employed by Gençlerbirliği and AGF Aarhus in Turkey and Denmark respectively.

During his playing days he was on the books of Blackburn Rovers, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Glasgow Rangers, AIK Solna, Malmö FF and IFK Gothenburg.

Sweden-born Lee insists Amakhosi's facilities rank among the best he's seen.

“Kaizer Chiefs’ facilities are on par with the top professional clubs in Europe. I have been at several European clubs, but they don’t all have training pitches of the quality that Chiefs have,” Lee told his club's website.

Lee is determined to help head coach Steve Komphela end a near-three-year trophy drought for the Soweto giants.

“I want to win silverware as that’s what Kaizer Chiefs is all about. The club should at least win one trophy every season and I would like to contribute to accomplishing that.”

He is looking forward to linking up with first team keepers Itumeleng Khune and Brilliant Khuzwayo.

“It’s great to have an opportunity to now work with them.”

Lee will also aid the club's development structures and fellow keeper coaches Brian Baloyi and Rory Minnaar. - KickOff
