Johannesburg - Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael says it is unfair of people to make Saturday night's Nedbank Cup semi-final clash about him and Kaizer Chiefs counterpart Steve Komphela.

The Belgian tactician has been repeatedly linked with the Glamour Boys as a possible replacement for Komphela, who is expected to depart Naturena when his contract expires in June.

"He [Komphela] is not playing, his career is finished in a matter of being a soccer player. And mine is finished since again [I've retired] for a longer time than him," Eymael said.

"So we are not playing you know. It's the two teams that are playing, it's not Eymael against Komphela or Komphela against Eymael. It's simply Kaizer Chiefs against Free State Stars."

Eymael will be unhindered in his duties this weekend, having been suspended for Stars' 1-0 league loss to Chiefs earlier this month. The former Polokewane City mentor feels his men were very unlucky on that occasion.

"Yes, I will be on the bench. I was not too far from the bench the last time. But unfortunately we made more mistakes in the last minutes of the additional time, and it happens in football you know.

"But we were very unlucky during this game because I think we played very, very well against Chiefs and we deserved certainly a minimum one point. Like we've been unlucky this Saturday against Celtic you know, because Celtic had only one attack and us five big chances you know.

But it's like that, but it's like that in soccer," he said, referring to the 1-1 draw with derby rivals Bloemfontein Celtic last weekend. The match at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium this Saturday will kick off at 20h15. - KickOff
