Johannesburg - Steve Komphela will not be the Kaizer Chiefs coach next season as management has already decided to release him, according to a source.
Komphela admitted he wouldn’t be the diamond he was if it hadn’t been for the hardships he went through in his nearly three-year stint with Chiefs that is coming to an end in June.The former Maritzburg United mentor who has not won any silverware since joining Amakhosi appeared to be thanking the club for the opportunity they afforded him to grow as a coach.
Talking to SuperSport TV after the match Kompela said: "Personally I must thank everybody who has put pressure on me. I couldn't have been the coal that I am, I would not have been the diamond that I am, I would have stayed the simple muddy house.
"As I go out, I must thank everybody. It is through pressure that you get better but you must accept pressure because at the back of not accepting it you denying God what he want, he's preparing me for another environment. So don't say no to challenges."

Added Komphela: "Strength wise I have grown immensely I'm not the same coach who came here, as I go out I must thank everybody. The pressure you receive makes you a better person. Emotionally I was very weak as a person but ask me now, you even ask your self how does this guy stand.
"Beyond the bit of brains that was given to us, the emotions are stronger and that moves deeper into the level of faith. Maybe I need to be more faithful and the only way to be more faithful you have to have emotions that are stronger and stable. I'm where I am because of them and I thank them so much."
Komphela is in the final few months of his three-year contract that he signed in July 2015, with speculation on the coach’s future rife following the club’s announcement of scheduled changes in the off-season.
Having failed to deliver the league title during his term, according to a source, it is thought that Chiefs have already decided the former junior international tactician’s fate.
Pule Esktein second half goal was enough to secure the maximum points for Amakhosi which will go a long way in boosting their confidence after last weekend 3-0 thumping by Chippa United.
Chiefs next match they will face Free State Stars in the semi-final of Nedbank Cup at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Chiefs are already out of contention for the Absa Premiership title and can now only hope to win the Nedbank Cup. They are in the semi-finals of the knockout competition, having been drawn to play against Free State Stars on April 21.
Upon being quizzed over his future at Naturena, Komphela sounded resigned to the possibility of his contract not being renewed despite trying to remain reticent.
“I’m sure from a legal point of view – I’m not a legal guru – any contract with terms that are clear talks to that, and you wouldn’t want to say anything inside or outside that.
“A term is a term, and it’s clear – when they say to you, ‘You’re state president, you serve two years’. Not unless you want to change the constitution, but a contract is just clear,” responded Komphela. - Online Sources
