Johannesburg - Ramahlwe Mphahlele ‘Rama’ believes Andile Jali on-field persona would come as a huge asset to Amakhosi.
“His character is amazing – on the pitch he is something else. I know sometimes off-the-pitch he gets funny, but on the pitch you can rely on him in terms of marking, playing and scoring goals,” he added.
“I’ve been with him since Under-20 and, look, it would be nice if he comes to Chiefs. He’s a great player and he will obviously come and add value to the team. Like it’s important if you bring a player to Kaizer Chiefs, he must add value.
“Any team can do with a great player like Jali. Sundowns can do with him; Pirates can do with him, you know, he’s an international player.
“If you get a player like that in your changing room then it gives you a little advantage because you know you have someone ready to take off, so he will add value to the team.”
Jali is currently a free agent after being released early from his contract with Belgian club KV Oostende last month, following a three-and-a-half year spell abroad.
The ex-Orlando Pirates star has been flirting with fans over his future on social media, with Bucs chairman Irvin Khoza recently confirming talks with their former star.
It is also said that Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are in the hunt for the 28-year-old’s signature, and Mphahlele has welcomed the prospect of having him at Naturena.
“It’s no secret, Jali is a great player. If the management can manage to bring him to Naturena then it would be great,” said Mphahlele.
“Obviously, it’s for ‘Steak’ [Bobby Motaung] and them to work on the move, but he’s a great player and he’s welcome at the club. Football is about competition and we would really, really appreciate someone like him if he were to come.”
