Enzo Ishall: Kanjiva Hitmaker 'Fleeced by Producers'

Harare - Rising Zim Dancehall star Enzo Ishall, real name Stephen Mamhere, is reported to be struggling financially despite his wave of popularity.

Question marks have been raised on whether his record label, Chillspot Records is fleecing the talented musician.

According to a local publication, whenever the musician performs at live shows, he only gets 25 percent of the earnings with the other 75 percent being shared equally between Chillspot Records producers, Levelz, Ribbe and Fantan.

"When he is booked for a show or gets any endorsements, Enzo Ishall’s money is split between himself and Chillspot executives Fantan, Levels and DJ Ribbe.

"He (Enzo Ishall) feels like he owes the stable for his rise since they nurtured his career and invested in his music. The artiste can’t leave because as you know Chillspot is vibrant in dancehall and he is afraid to lose that.

"In international best practices, record labels take between 10 and 20 percent from the profits after all expenses are paid," thew source told the Herald.

The musician was unreachable for comment as all the calls were diverted to Levels’ phone. The producer insisted that everything was above board as Enzo Ishall is mature enough to know when he is being fleeced.

"The artists we work with are old enough to know when they are being fleeced. I don’t think artists can stick around where they are being used. They are old and mature enough to choose what’s good for their careers.

"We have been working with Enzo Ishall since 2013, most people started to know him only since last year. All this time we have worked with him we invested money and time in building his career. We never calculate how much but we invested.

"Our contract is confidential but all I can say is we are fair. We also don’t tie an artist to our stable, they are free to leave at any point, we don’t own them," Said Levelz.

However, the singer has waved off the criticism, saying the collection is still intact, and those bent on spoiling their relationship will fail.

"Off to Australia, see u soon… It’s a world tour that begins as of now levels_chillspot and fantan_chillspot musateerere vanhu varikuda kuparadza chillspot nekutaura zvisiko, I strategy inonzi divide and rule yaishandiswa kuhondo.

"Keep being used by Satan but you will see that I worship a living God and you will be put to shame)," he fumed - Online Sources
