Chitungwiza – At an advanced age of 98, Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti still preaches the gospel with passion. This year, he celebrates six decades in ministry.

Under his adept leadership, Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) has become one of the fastest growing churches, present in more than 100 nations and states, since its formation in 1960.

He oversees thousands of pastors worldwide.

Archbishop Guti’s upbringing is traced to a remote village of Ngaone in Chipinge. ZAOGA began under a tree on 12 May 1960 in Bindura. While praying under a tree in 1963, God spoke to him.

“Learn and read the English bible and learn to preach in English because you shall go to many countries with my word.”
Archbishop Ezekiel Guti Founder of ZAOGA

His commitment to ministry was confirmed after the death of his first wife.

“I was ready to die single as I had lived for 15 years without a wife. It was not easy as my mind was so much engrossed in God’s work.

“But when someone explained to me at the bible school what scriptures say about marriage, my perception of marriage changed,” Archbishop Guti once said.

As an academic, he holds a number of qualifications, including a Bachelor of Christian education and Doctorate from Northgate Graduate School, from Zoe College USA. His support for education saw him establish the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University in Bindura.

Various bible colleges were started in many nations, equipping over 4000 clerics from more than 55 countries. The Mbuya Dorcas Healthcare Centre offers medical care. Archbishop Guti has penned a collection of more than 80 books to prepare those in ministry.

He is married to Prophetess Eunor Guti.

Described as a great intercessor, a man of love – and with a hunger to win souls to Jesus Christ – Archbishop Guti has claimed the mountain of religion, in tandem with the theme at Tiyambuke 2019: Give me this mountain hosted by Glory Ministries.
