Harare - China Premier Xi Jinping, will lead a strong contingent of sitting and past presidents to Zimbabwe for former President Robert Mugabe's funeral, who died in Singapore, aged 95.
In China, Jinping is regarded as the paramount leader since 2012. He officially received the title of core leader from the CPC in 2016. As general secretary, Xi holds an ex-officio seat on the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, China's top decision-making body.
In March 2018, Xi received international condemnation after the party-controlled National People's Congress passed a set of constitutional amendments including removal of term limits for the president and vice president.
China and Zimbabwe have been friends since the liberation struggle, with many soldiers trained in the communist nation.

Mugabe's colleague, Kenneth Kaunda who was Zambia;s president will be coming, together with current President Edgar Lungu. Pat presidents Rupiah Banda and Guy Scott are expected to jet in.
Cameroon's long serving President, Paul Biya will join mourners at the giant National Sport Stadium on Saturday. Yoweri Museveni of Ghana will also feature at the memorial. The Ugandan leaser has been in power since 1986, when he helped topple dictator Idi Amin.
Under fire, South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa will be accompanied by former president Jacob Zuma and Thabo Mbeki. Mbeki orchestrated the unity government in Zimbabwe, after Mugabe had lost the elections to the late Morgan Tsvangirai.
From Ghana, President Nana Akufo Addo, will travel with past president John Mahama, Jerry Rawlings and John Kufuor. India's Prime Minister Narenda Modi and former President Pranab Patil, will also represent their nation in mourning Mugabe.
Africa's most populous nation, Nigeria will be represented by President Mohammadu Buhari and retired President Olusegun Obasanjo. Belarus – Alexander Lukashenko is the only European leader confirmed to grace the occasion.
